Come and experience the visual arts at the beautiful Hylton Performing Arts Center on the Science and Technology Campus. Alumni author Dr. Shawn DuBravac, MA ’04, PhD ’14, chief economist for the Consumer Technology Association, will speak about his book Digital Destiny: How the New Age of Data Will Transform the Way We Work, Live, and Communicate. This New York Times bestseller explores how the world’s mass adoption of digital technologies portends the beginning of a new era for humanity in the realms of economics, health, travel and culture. The Black Alumni Chapter will host a scholarship fundraising event during Alumni Weekend at the Park at Fourteenth with great socializing and good music. The Park, among the best nightclubs in Washington, D.C., with its amazing food and drinks (available for purchase), will make for an exciting Mason event on an exclusive floor. College of Education and Human Development Professor Dr. David K. Wiggins has focused much of his research on the interconnection among race, sport, and American culture. Dr. Wiggins' most recent book DC Sports: The Nations' Capital at Play has been met with wide acclaim. He also serves as a consultant to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Together with Mark Ginsberg, Dean of the College of Education and Human Development, all alumni are invited to a lively and thought provoking conversation that will focus on the history and ethical issues surrounding African American participation in sport.

The 2016-17 George Mason basketball season will tip off Friday, October 14, at Mason Madness 2016! This year’s edition of Mason Madness will begin at 8 p.m. in EagleBank Arena. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early to ensure they receive the best seating in the arena. Admission is free for all fans!

Visit the College of Science's on-campus observatory for an introductory tour and observing of the night sky through our 0.8-meter diameter telescope (weather permitting). Depending upon conditions, we will observe available planets, stars, galaxies, and more!

Continue the “madness” at this after party at one of Mason’s favorite local watering holes, Oh George! Come listen to Dr. Mary Ellen O’Toole, Director of the Forensic Science program at Mason, share her experience as one of the FBI’s most senior and accomplished profilers. During her career, she worked on many high profile cases, including the Elizabeth Smart abduction, the Unabomber case, the Green River Killer, and the Natalee Hollaway investigation.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences and College of Science Alumni Chapters have teamed up to showcase the history, economics and traditional sciences behind beer. Caboose Brewing Co. is back again with an extraordinary lineup of beers to taste. Octoberfest meets trivia night in this college collaboration.

An intimate barbecue in the Art and Design Building Sculpture Yard will anchor the Alumni Weekend festivities with a select group of students, and alumni. Faculty will present five-minute lectures in an intense, fast-paced format designed to keep energy and spirits high.

Join us for the sixth annual Family Weekend 5K Run/Walk. The course will take you across Mason's beautiful campus, so come prepared to walk, run, and enjoy the scenery! Part of the Making Connections: Transforming Arts Leadership series, this networking event is aimed at both emerging and mid-career arts managers, and will serve to strengthen their connection to the Mason Arts Management community. We will be sharing a meal, touring Palette 22's on-site artist studios, and meeting with a member of their management team to learn more about their business model. Palette 22 combines a working restaurant inspired by international cuisine, with an active artist residency program.
